In late May, the Swedish young academy elected a new board for the year 2020/2021. New chair of the young academy is Sanna Koskiniemi, chair at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology at Uppsala University.

“I look forward to a year full of new ideas, projects and discussion, says the new chair Sanna Koskiniemi. The academy members are full of wonderful energy and it will be fun to help find the best way of channelling all that energy. We have many ongoing projects that will finish during the year and it will be exciting to see how they are received. It is an honour to lead the Swedish young academy.

The Young Academy of Sweden is a interdisciplinary academy for a selection of the most prominent, younger researchers in Sweden. Its operations rest on four pillars: internationalization, outreach, science policy, and transdisciplinarity. The Academy is an independent platform that provides younger researchers with a strong voice in the science policy debate and that promotes science and research, often focusing on children and young adults. In the Academy young researchers meet across institutional and disciplinary borders to discuss research and research related topics.

The Young Academy of Sweden was formed at the initiative of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 2011 and has about 35 members.
