Melanie During is a vertebrate palaeontologist who studies fossil Devonian lobe-finned fishes that were closely related to the earliest tetrapods. She employs state-of-the-art imaging techniques, most notably synchrotron microtomography, to reconstruct and interpret their anatomy and microstructures in three dimensions. Melanie is affiliated with the project through her expertise with overlapping methodologies and key taxa.
